The Manta Ray Swim Team focuses on coaching children how to swim the four competitive swim strokes legally. Children will also have the opportunity to compete with their peers in swim meets throughout the summer, with the last meet being a league championship at the YMCA/City Pool. All participants will receive a Manta Ray T-shirt and swim cap. Children must be able to swim 25 yards of front crawl without stopping.

Pike is for children who have minimal to no experience with the water. Children will learn how to put their face in the water, kick, and float with support from the instructor.
Eels are more comfortable with the water. They will begin to learn how to float, glide, and kick on their own.
Rays are comfortable with the water. They are able to float, kick, and go underwater without assistance from the instructor. Rays will begin to explore the motions of front crawl and elementary backstroke.
Polliwog is designed for children who have minimal experience with the water. Polliwogs will learn how to put their face in the water, kick, and float with instructor support.
Guppys are more comfortable with the water. Guppys will begin to float, glide, and kick on their own. They will also begin to learn the proper crawl and elementary backstroke arm motions.
Minnows can comfortably move around the water without any assistance. Children will learn how to perform front crawl and elementary backstroke. Minnows will begin to tread water independently and learn basic diving skills.
Fish have an intermediate understanding of how to perform front crawl. They will begin to develop the three remaining competitive strokes (back crawl, breastroke, and butterfly) and perform more advance dives.
Flying Fish have an intermediate to advanced understanding of how to perform front crawl and back crawl. They also have a better understanding of how to perform breastroke and butterfly. Flying Fish will learn new skills such as front and back crawl flip turns.
Sharks have an advanced understanding of how to perform front crawl and back crawl. They also have an intermediate to advanced understanding of breastroke and butterfly. Sharks will focus on improving their endurance skills and fundamentals of creating a swim workout.
Water Babies is an introduction to the aquatic environment for children 6 months – 3 years of age. Children will learn to become comfortable in the water by learning how to blow bubbles, go underwater, kick and float. This class also teaches parents how to safely have fun with their children in the water.
Private swim lessons include four half hour swim lessons. Lessons can be split into one student and one instructor or up to four students and one instructor. Instructors may be requested or assigned.
