Magic Valley YMCA

NOTICE: On March 17, our staff will be hosting the St. Patrick's Day 7K Fun Run.
ChildWatch and the Y.A.C. will be closed for that event.
(Join us at the Fun Run, if you can!)

Our ChildWatch teachers offer regular story times, arts and crafts, and Moving & Monkey times. These programs are designed to enhance your child’s body, mind, and spirit while learning the Y’s Core Values of

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Caring
  • Honesty

For children age 3 mos to 6 yrs. Parents must be on site. Up to two hours per day of child care by CPR certified staff.

Child Watch and YAC Hours Change
Effective as of August 21, 2017

Mon-Fri 8:00am - 1:30pm and 3:30pm - 7:30pm,
Sat. 9:00am - 12:00pm

The YAC will not be open in the morning during the week as school will be in session and if Twin Falls School District closes for a snow day these departments will also be closed as well as group fitness classes.

These changes will enable parents to come straight to the Y after dropping off or picking up elementary age children to or from school. This also provides parents the option of using ChildWatch while early morning aquatics classes are in session.

YAC Rules
(YAC = Youth Activities Center)

Dear YMCA families,

Thank you for your patience as we have gotten settled and organized here at the Elizabeth building. Our goal is to give your children a place to socialize, run and play, practice sportsmanship, and use their imaginations and feel safe.

Please make sure your children know what is expected of them while they are in YAC.

  • Be respectful/kind to EVERYONE – If it’s not nice, don’t say it and don’t do it. Treat the supplies and equipment nicely. Listen to the counselors and do as they ask.
  • Closed toe shoes are strongly encouraged – To protect feet from injury and for the active games.
  • Wear leggings or shorts under skirts -
  • Leave electronics/toys at home – YAC is an UNPLUGGED play place.
  • BE involved/participate in activities – Come with a good attitude, ready to play whatever is planned during their time in YAC.
  • No food/drinks/candy in YAC, water bottles only – Because of unknown allergies. Please bring a labeled water bottle for active game time in the multipurpose room/outside.

The children are not to be on or use any equipment while in the multipurpose room. Please remind them of this.

Just a few reminders for parents: Please sign your child in with

  • First & last name, age, and your name
  • Please print
  • Time arrived and time left

(we are required to have this information)
Also, include where the staff can find you quickly in case there is an emergency.

Please be sure to scan your child(ren) in at the front desk also.

YAC ages are 6 to 12. 6 year olds can go to YAC or Child Watch, but need to decide where and stay there the duration of their visit. There is a 2-hour limit per day in child care services.

If there is a need for you to discipline your child while here at the YMCA. Please step away from YAC to do it. This is better for everyone.

Please do not leave children unattended, if they are not in YAC or ChildWatch they need to be with you.

12-year-old children, after an orientation, may workout with you.

A parent is required to be on the premises while children are in the ChildWatch or YAC program.

Only a parent can sign children into/out at YAC. Sign both parent’s names if the other one will be picking them up. They will not be released to anyone but a parent.

Thank you for entrusting your children to us in YAC. We hope that this program will enrich your child’s experience at the YMCA. If you have any suggestions or any concerns, please contact me at: Donna Bywater 733-4384, EXT 106 or
